Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds

The piece is a grouping of prints from a 16 year time range. Consisting of 12 half sheet blue monoprints, each print sizes 15" x 22" and dates circa 2007- 2013. Each print is fitted with 2 linen tape tabs and prints are pinned to the wall, with small "map" pins. 
 
The installation title eludes to Edgar's wife's Dine grand father. Following his death, the artist explains in these monoprints how the family had to return him for burial in the back of a pick up truck, from Utah to Az.
 
"Rail Road Rugs" print was shown in the CEPA, 2010 exhibition titled: Water Desert Words. The Whimsies text riffs were also in that show. Mr. Heap of Bird's writes, "I had done research on Navajo rugs in Arizona, which used text in the weavings. "Uterine Hats", actions of U.S. troops at Sand Creek, they decorated their hats with Cheyenne cut out uterus."

"Dine Body Bag" was exhibited in L.A. The piece is similar, yet much smaller, to his installation now up and collected at MoMA, "Surviving Active Shooter, Custer".
